Käsespätzle (Cheesy Noodles)

Käsespätzle (Cheesy Noodles)

Ingredients:

  • 500g Spätzle (German egg noodles)
  • 2 cups grated Emmentaler cheese
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Cook the Spätzle:

    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add Spätzle and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well.
  2. Layer the Ingredients:

    • In a large pan or skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the drained noodles and a layer of cheese. Let the cheese melt a bit before adding another layer of Spätzle, followed by more cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  3. Add Onions and Serve:

    • Once all the cheese has melted and the mixture is hot and bubbly, top with fried onions and a sprinkle of fresh parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
