How to make Stuffed Peppers

How to make Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients

  • 4 large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Shredded cheese, optional

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Cut off the tops of the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes from the inside. Rinse the peppers and set them aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) over medium heat until browned, stirring occasionally. Drain the fat and set the cooked meat aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until the onion is translucent and tender.

Step 5

Add the can of diced tomatoes (undrained), cooked rice, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Mix well.

Step 6

Add the cooked ground meat to the skillet and mix everything together.

Step 7

Stuff the bell peppers with the mixture, packing it in tightly. Place the peppers in a baking dish.

Step 8

Bake the stuffed peppers in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is heated through.

Step 9

If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the peppers during the last few minutes of baking, and allow the cheese to melt.

Step 10

Serve hot and enjoy!
