Ingredients
For the meat sauce:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground sausage
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion (diced)
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
For the cheese mixture:
- 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
For assembly:
- 12 lasagna noodles (cooked according to package instructions)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)

Prepare the meat sauce:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté diced onion until soft.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add ground beef and sausage, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.

Prepare the cheese mixture:
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, and salt.

Assemble the lasagna:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by 1/3 of the cheese mixture and 1/3 of the meat sauce. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
- Top with remaining shredded mozzarella cheese.

Bake:
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

- Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
