Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp iSpice World FlavorsTM Middle Eastern Seasoning
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 1/2 lb. extra lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (16 oz) package phyllo dough
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Brown beef with onions, iSpice World FlavorsTM Middle Eastern Seasoning and almonds until fully cooked. Drain and cool.

Step 4

Mix egg into beef and reserve.

Step 5

Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough, longest side towards you. Brush lightly with butter, covering the whole sheet. Lay another sheet of dough over top, matching up the corners. Brush with butter again and repeat until you have three sheets stacked on top of one another.

Step 6

Cut 6 strips into the phyllo dough, widthwise and cut in half lengthwise.

Step 7

Working with one strip at a time, drop a heaped tablespoon of filling onto the end of the strip closest to you. Fold corner of strip over filling to form a triangle. Keep folding triangle over itself until no strip remains, making sure corners are tightly sealed.

Step 8

Repeat step 7 until no sheets remain.

Step 9

Arrange on a baking sheet, brush the tops of the triangles with butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Step 10

Bake in oven for 20-30 minutes until puffed up and golden brown.

Step 11

Serve hot or room temperature.
